PARKVIEW FIELD PLACES CITIZENS AT RISK
Mike Nutter (President of the Fort Wayne Tincaps), and Hardball Capital (Owners of Parkview Field), are either ignorant of the facts or just do not care about the safety of you, your family or anyone who attends Tincaps baseball games.
Last year I had a email exchange with Mr. Nutter concerning the signs posted at the field.
I expressed my concern that such signs do nothing to protect those attending Tincap games and place citizens at more risk, not less.
Mr. Nutter assured me he would be reviewing this policy with his security personal and the Fort Wayne Police who are present at the games.
I do not know if Mr. Nutter followed through on his promise.
Apparently my discussion with Mr. Nutter fell on deaf ears. As of today June 14th, 2015 the signs remain.
WHY YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED
First things first...
Indiana Code 35-47.11.1-3 : For any who care to look up this law, you will find it essentially states that such signage in the state of Indiana carry "no force of law." (i.e) any person who has a license to carry issued by the state of Indiana may indeed carry their gun in Parkview field.
Anyone who believes such signs provide a safer environment are deluded
Anyone who believes "it can't happen to me" need to reevaluate the world we live in
The tragedy in Newtown Connecticut occurred in a "GUN FREE ZONE"
I am certain when the parents kissed their children goodbye that morning; they felt they would be safe and secure. After all, guns are illegal in schools.
I am certain those at the Aurora CO movie theater never in their wildest imagination thought a sick individual would enter with guns and start shooting randomly.
I am certain those at the Charlie Hebdo publishing house in France never considered that day would be there last day on earth.
WHAT IS THE COMMONALITY HERE?
(SOFT TARGETS):
This is a term coined by many in the law enforcement and intelligence community as someone (a person) or some thing that is easy to attack with success.
The three examples above were ALL "soft targets".
When police searched James Holmes (The shooter at the Aurora Co theater) home, they found his carefully detailed plans of mass murder. One of the criteria in Holme's plans was to choose a place
where guns were prohibited, or a perception firearms are prohibited. A number of targets were crossed off his list as armed guards were present at those locations. That's right; Mr. Holmes chose a "soft target".
These no gun signs have zero effect on sick individuals bent on terror and murder.
To the contrary; they invite attack to the twisted mind of sick individuals who believe their odds of success are greater in these so called "Gun Free Zones".
It is interesting to note the cities that maintain the highest numbers of murder, rape and armed robbery are cities with the most restrictive gun laws. These are not numbers made up by me; they are taken from the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Statistics.
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin...Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
Those of us who legally carry a firearm have been finger printed, passed a national background check and are deemed by the state of Indiana to "be of good character".
What can you do?
Call or email Mr. Mike Nutter or Hardball Capital and tell them you are not interested in becoming a statistic.
Mr. Nutter, tear down those signs!
right on the money!
ReplyDeletethey are a crappy team anyway
Most stadiums I have been to have the same signage. The difference between the instances you mentioned above is that baseball facilities have uniformed officers with guns and the other places did not. I feel totally safe at Parkview Field! These policies are the same as NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, etc.
